This year, SURTECO DECOR GmbH is among the innovative leaders in Germany’s SME sector. The company from Buttenwiesen was honoured by Ranga Yogeshwar, Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and compamedia with the TOP 100 seal, awarded for the 24th time. In the independent selection process, the company impressed the jurors with its innovation processes and the climate of innovation.
TOP 100: The competition
Since 1993, compamedia has been awarding the TOP 100 seal to small and medium sized companies, honouring outstanding innovative strength and an above-average rate of innovative successes. The scientific management has been in the hands of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke since 2002. Franke is founder and chairman of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Vienna’s University of Economics and Business and an associate researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With 18 research prizes and over 200 publications, he is numbered among the leading innovation researchers internationally. Mentor to the TOP 100 project is the science journalist and TV presenter Ranga Yogeshwar. Project partners are the Fraunhofer Society for the promotion of applied research and the SME association BVMW.

This was the claim for the new SURTECO exhibition stand at interzum 2017. And anybody standing at the central Piazza of the Cologne Trade Fair was encounter an exciting invitation to go on this voyage of discovery. SURTECO provided the ideal presentation here as a key market player with an exhibition stand covering an area of 550 sqm. Yet the large area alone was not the magnet of attraction bringing visitors to the stand. Trend trees reached five metres into the vertical space unfold the imposing diversity of our product range in the space encompassing nine metres in diameter. Visitors embarked on a transformation between opportunities, a voyage of motion – which moves in the literal sense. In keeping with our promise this year of “ONE in Motion”.
Three trend trees presented the most important designs for the coming years. A fourth installation of surprising designs showed visitors the latest highlights in decor match. Two other multifaceted installations presented the most recent technical innovations. Anybody who is able to transfer their gaze from the creative stand architecture to the floor discovered designs and materials from SURTECO partners at every turn.
The excitingly choreographed portrayal of edgebandings from BAUSCHLINNEMANN and DÖLLKEN attracted visitors with its waveform 3D look. After completing your tour, you were welcomed at the highlight area in a dialogue zone. Discussions took place here in an upscale atmosphere. Undoubtedly there have been some interesting conversations about the presentations that visitors found particularly moving at the SURTECO stand.

The design powerhouse of the group of companies has been rebranded: Süddekor Art is now called SURTECO art.
This represents another step towards integration of the former Süddekor Group into SURTECO. SURTECO art is an independent company which continues to develop decor designs, printing- and embossing cylinders for the Group and for external customers.
SURTECO Group – convincing with expertise
Buttenwiesen/Gladbeck, 21 March, 2017 – At Interzum 2017, the members of the SURTECO Group are demonstrating their collective strength. And that is: Perfectly coordinated solutions, all from one source. The central focus is on service for the customer. In keeping with the motto for the fair “One in Motion” visitors can look forward to a strong presentation on the part of the Surteco Group. On an almost 600 m2 stand, the SURTECO Group presents itself as a cohesive unit, constantly in motion to create added value and innovations for the customer. The new stand concept displays imposing, expansive architecture designed to allow the visitor to experience the strength of the Group. “We set standards in design and surface engineering,” explain managing directors, Dieter Baumanns and Peter Schulte. “And we want to convey this at first glance to our visitors.” These can look forward to seeing exciting surfaces from super matte to high-gloss, new haptics and 3D experiences as well as technical highlights for modern furniture and flooring design. The special service offering for the handcraft trades is presented in a futuristic edging area. The topics featured here are availability from stock, small lot sizes and short delivery times.
Appearing just in time for Interzum is the new SURTECO trend book which was developed on an interdisciplinary basis and makes a powerful statement on decor design for the near future, distilled from the various social currents and visual tendencies. But one thing that can be revealed right here: three trend currents are identified which describe different forms and yet flow together to “One”. To match these trend worlds, the SURTECO Group has included new decors in the programme, which are to be impressively presented at the fair.

BauschLinnemann offers decor and surface solutions from floor to ceiling. Whether as flat foils or wrapping foils or melamine edgebandings – every application can be implemented for the wood-based manufacturing industry.
Dakor is one of the leading product developers, manufacturers and partners in the area of surface refinement for furniture and flooring. The overlays, decor films and backings define new technological benchmarks for resilience, process capability and quality.
As the worldwide leading manufacturer of thermoplastic edgebanding products, Döllken sets standards in decor matching and design, groundbreaking joining technologies and surface finishing.
The Swedish company Gislaved Folie produces thermoplastic surface materials which unite colour, form and function. With great dedication to quality and environmental safety, the decorative, functional foils are produced individually according to precise customer specifications and requirements.
At SURTECO DECOR special papers for industrial surface finishing are printed and finished with decorative structures using rotogravure. This results in products which we meet daily in the form of hard-wearing furniture surfaces or laminate floor covering with high design demands.
Within the year-end-celebration on 10th of December the Surteco-Group honoured 26 employees. Together they retrospect 580 years of experience in this company.The number of employees has more than doubled in the space of the last three years - by now there are nearly 500 people employed at the location of Surteco in Buttenwiesen, some are already 35 years working here.
The managing directors of Surteco Dieter Baumanns and Reinhold Affhüppe thanked the jubilarians and looked back at an exciting year 2016. Completing the process of integration (Süddekor-Group) and also the construction of a new customer service center were just some of the challenges the concern mastered in 2016.
